Lazy St. Patty’s Dinner

I think this is the first year I did not make my own corned beef, cabbage, and potatoes.

Instead we did reubens. Once last year, Bob and I went out and ordered ruebens at a restaurant. I don’t know what that place was thinking, but they smothered the sandwiches in mustard. Yuck.

So for the rest of you out there unfamiliar with a REAL reuben, here’s the recipe.

Ingredients:
-rye bread
-Thousand Island dressing
-corned beef
-sauerkraut
-Swiss cheese

Yay for St. Patty’s, Boo for Germs!

Friday everything seemed to be hunky dory in the health department, even though the weather was gross (back to cold and rain). We headed out to the mall to escape our home which has felt a bit like prison due to the gray yuck outside for the past few months. (cute pics, just because)

then….the girls have been sick all weekend!!! Fevers, stuffy noses, watery eyes. We are SO OVER THIS WINTER! I will say we’ve been lucky, this is the FIRST time Shaye has had a fever, and she is handling it much better than Brinn.
Shaye has become obsessed with standing over the past few days although she can only get up on her knees without help. Within 2 days she has learned to “walk” holding our hands. It’s so cute. Here she is trying to master her other obsession- the stairs.
Of course at 10 months old, she loses interest quickly. She decided to venture off into the dining room.
She likes to get tangled up in the chairs and table, but is too tall to crawl under them.
The end result? Tears from head bumps. And the Tylenol must’ve kicked in…
Nap time!
Brinn’s secret spot is her closet. It is filled with her toys, dress up chest and clothes, as well as other random kid junk. I went to check on her and found her swimming in a sea of beanie babies and a boa constrictor.

She’s been fever free all day though! She missed her St. Patty’s preschool party yesterday but will be there to play with “animals” tomorrow! The class is expecting special guests (turtles and other slimy creatures) so she won’t have to miss that.
We’re praying that the first day of spring on the 21st will be the end of cold and crud!

What the heck do you mean….

Every family doesn’t get drunk on St. Patty’s day?

Only Irish FREAKS do this??

For St. Patty’s, we went to Atlanta for the Sabres game. Sabres games are SUCH a big deal in this family (um, no not to ME) that we have season tickets to the ATL Thrashers. Did I mention that they are all SABRES fans??

First things first. We check into the hotel.
Second, we hit a liquor store.

We look like a bunch of Irish Gypsies in all of our garb, and let me tell you, except for the gay man dressed like a green fairy, we were the only group to look this “excited” for the holiday. We had booze hidden on us in every which way. (yes, even Brinn has a shot glass as a necklace) Apparently, they don’t do things “our” way, so we had to hide it out in public. Wimps.
Here Tara and I pose with the world’s largest piece of SHIT.
and here is John, after hanging out with his friend, “Jack”.
