Maeve vs Medusa.

I have to be honest, when Maeve told me she wanted to be Medusa for Halloween I couldn’t stop laughing. Clash of the Titans was one of my favorite movies as a kid (and the reason for that is probably because my mom had some weird thing for Harry Hamlin or something).

Anyway, her costume was adorable, and yes, I tend to spend moolah on Halloween costumes, because Halloween is my favorite holiday, and you can still get cute Christmas dresses at Target for under $20. Justified.

This is my splurge.

Maeve was super pissed that the crown of snakes head piece was already out of stock when I ordered this thing in AUGUST. I am pretty sure that the crown was the reason she wanted this costume in the first place. So we decided to find a wig and weave snakes through it. I think it turned out pretty cute myself. I have a brown bobbed wig, but found this wavy Grecian wig for $4.20 on a clearance rack, and the snakes are from the Dollar Store. I just bobby-pinned them throughout the hair and through the wig cap to hold them in place.

Circe approved and was waiting with much anticipation for the bag of loot.

Face Paint Sometimes Burns. A lot.

For the record, I tried to be authentic and paint my face white. So I followed THIS youtube video .
I glued my eyebrows like she said, let them dry, and then I started to apply the paint.
I took this picture, it’s like 5 coats, and still not totally white.
All of the sudden my face started to burn like someone pointed a blow torch at me.
I DOVE towards the bathtub (behind me), doused my face with cold running water and scrubbed the crap OFF of my face.
This morning my face is still sensitive, blotchy and red.
Yuck. I used the tube of $1 white halloween face paint from Walmart.
I’m not sure WHAT I was thinking considering I have the most horribly sensitive skin ever!

The Queen of Hearts and Mad Hatter (burton)

headed to a charity event last night! The costumes were complete and I think they were a big hit.
Final touches:
My crown is construction paper painted gold, outlined with gold ribbon for trim, and studded with jewels and buttons.

I sprayed my hair red, and took a wig and sprayed it orange for the Hatter.

My fabulous wand from the dollar store, and yes, it glows.

I thought it was awesome that I’d wave at people, and see them mouth “who is that?” Then they would see Bob and figure it out.

We tipped, drank, and were scary!
