Cake Pops

My kids love these,

Bryce-”the-silent-teen-because-parents-are-stupid”

even strikes up conversations with me so I will make a batch .

I guess it was about four years ago when I found the brilliant blog BAKERELLA (I was pregnant, and I was HUN…G….RY all of the time)

I’ve made plenty of her treats, but I’m finding cake pops to be the most popular. So for those who love food porn, I’ll make a new button up top for confections.

Red Velvet Showdown.

I took 3 similar recipes, used the same ingredients except maybe 1 minor thing, a few slightly different ratios of those ingredients, covered them all in the same frosting, and took these puppies to the Baxter Boozer’s Bitchin’ Bookclub so my team of testers could rate them.

**sidenote** Please do not judge my cupcakes on their frosting appearance HERE. These are taste-testing cupcakes. I want people to TASTE them, not be dazzled by their beauty. My darling husband asked, “are you really going to give them out looking like someone’s Aunt Susie whipped those up for a picnic?”…me thinks a certain spoiled man is treading into dangerous territory!!!

1. The Jimmy. Jimmy is pretty with a nice dome. But Jimmy feels a bit spongy on the outside.

2. Sprinkles Sprinkles is flat, a little ugly, and very VERY tender. I had to be extra careful just taking them out of the cupcake pan.

3. BALLS Now this is a pretty cupcake. Balls is like a supermodel.

We cut them open…..

Jimmy had worm holes and were as spongy inside as they were out.

Sprinkles was super soft and fluffy.

Balls had a nice texture and was very cake-y.

Which one do you think was the winner??????????

Jimmy Sprinkles Balls?!?!

The Baxter Boozer’s Bitchin’ Bookclub knows!
