A Very Hungry Caterpillar Stayed!

Brinn, Shaye and I have been mesmerized by these caterpillars! Every morning after breakfast we head onto the porch to check them out, but on this particular morning there was only one caterpillar munching away on the last nub of parsley.

We went over to another flower box on my porch, low and behold we found this lazy guy! I admit, we’re super excited he stuck around and decided to do his thing in a potted geranium!

Our Swallowtail caterpillar is on the road to being a butterfly!

Cupcakes and Camp. Virginia Beach Trip

I know this post is almost 2 weeks late, but better late than never…

and it’s all pictures, cuz that’s about all my brain can handle.

Two weeks ago Maeve and her girlfriend left for Camp Silver Beach in the Chesapeake Bay. The camp was far away, so I stayed for a few days at my girlfriend’s house- traveling alone with all three girls = big rest afterwards. (and wine. and great food.)

The trip should have taken seven hours but it took two hours to get out of Charlotte, then once we reached Greensboro, Maeve the dictator wanted to go to Olive Garden for dinner and I desperately needed one glass of wine…. and then it rained for a while.

A day at the beach.

The waves are INSANELY high. We’re use to little shifts of water in Hilton Head, these suckers were surf size!

Someone needed a little siesta!

Brinn was nervous in the waves at first. She’s still only 31 lbs though and the undertow was knocking everyone around like rag dolls. After a few hours of watching other kids challenge mother nature, she got on board (and knocked down).

CUPCAKES!!!!!!!!

We made sure to make our way to a Just Cupcakes, a cupcake shop in VA Beach!

Dinner! on Twitpic

m&m

Brinn licked the m&ms off and tossed it.

Chocolate and vanilla

Cookie Dough- sadly the kids were NOT fans of this and I thought they’d go bonkers for it!

Coconut

Triple chocolate

and this one was a favorite with all 5 of us- Blueberry! Definitely the best of the bunch we got. They were sold out of most of their other popular flavors so I was sad to miss key lime and red velvet.

Temptation.

Frosting face!!

This is how they felt after polishing off almost a dozen cupcakes!

Camp Silver Beach.

What a B E A U T I F U L place!

For fun from my camera- one of the tunnels

and the 20 mile Chesapeake Bay Bridge- totally amazing, I haven’t driven it in like 14 years!

Good times! And the two little ones were awesome on the ride home, too! Good girls. :)

Brinn’s 4th Birthday

We asked Brinn what she wanted to do for the day, and she said she wanted to go to the Columbia Zoo.

We headed over to Mellow Mushroom for lunch, and passed Cupcake on the way.

Yes, I bought Brinn cupcakes for her birthday. My excuse is that it was for research purposes. The truth is, I was so tired by the weekend, I just wanted a break!  This was fun too. We don’t cupcake discriminate.

We drove home with 12 treats, had picnic food for dinner, and wrapped up with the goodies.

FOUR!

Kid Stuff, June 2010. It’s easier this way.

So I’m just going to slap some family stuff on here to play catch up, I’m way behind on kid news for the family because of that fabulous porno malware I had.

I’m back.

Brinn’s Miller Street Dance Recital.

Brinn started dancing last fall, and she loved it so much that every single weekday morning she’d wake up and ask, “do I have dancin’ school today?” Then, a month before the recital something happened in class and she was done. She didn’t want to go, she’d cry and get crazy on me.

Listen, little dude, I’ve already paid for that costume so you WILL be going to the recital or I will confiscate all of your piggy banks for 14 years!

That morning she slept in, took a bath, and started to get ready without much of a fuss. But I was very careful, constantly watching what I said or did so as not to rock her crazy boat.

Leaving for the recital rehearsal:

We rode with her friend Lettie, picked up breakfast from Chickfila (chicken minis are her favorite), we went into the high school to check in…and doesn’t she slip on the floor in her shoes and FACEPLANT. So of course she balled her eyes out and up on stage for the practice run she just stood there like a cow in the pasture.

Once we left the rehearsal, we zoomed over to Walmart and bought her lipgloss, sparkly junk, and a bath tub toy as bribery. And for once, it worked. She danced! I still have to get a copy of the recital, but they did a fantastic job!

We were stinking excited, so of course we celebrated with DinoSundaes at Bruesters.

CLT Speed Street

So, this year was (no offense, people) way disappointing. I don’t know why, but something seemed totally different. I don’t know if they bused extra red rednecks in this year or what, but it was kind of the pits. Or maybe we weren’t drunk enough to be numb. I think we were there for an hour and a half, we never found anything we wanted to eat except  Cheezit snackbags, I ordered a beer that sounded great with 55 calories only to realize it’s water with a shot of beer, my $12 rum runner was missing the stinking rum, and without a buzz that is SO not the place to be. Here are some pictures, the girls did enjoy free chocolate milk and a few pieces of gum.

Maeve’s 5th gr Graduation!

I hae a middle schooler again. GOD HELP US.

Mah Baby girl is 2!

We had Shaye’s 2nd birthday party at our favorite Italian restaurant, Maggianos.

That morning she and I had a bunch of errands to run, so I took her to McDonald’s to get a biscuit because “the tank” LURVES biscuits! For birthday errands, we popped over to Tootsies Too and I got her some super adorable shoes and a birthday dress. Then we picked up Grandma P and headed over to Target, where Brinn proceeded to tell Shaye what Brinn wanted to buy. ;) We stopped home for a nap, and then headed to Southpark to stuff face!

The faces kill me. We are either a bunch of freaks, or the least photogenic people EVER.

She was so happy all day, even though she was getting a cold.

“Whatcha mean I only get ONE meatball???”

Flying toddlers!

And for dessert????

PROFITEROLES! mmmmmmmmmmm yum.

Happy birthday, sweet baby girl!
