Here’s the interview I did with Michelle Boudin from WCNC on Reality tv.

Cupcake Wars Champion Episode Loser.
Our episode was the Champions Season Premiere….and when they announced that our theme would be Spiderman, I was positive I would suck majorly. The only thing I knew about Spiderman on Broadway was the fact it was eight hundred bazillion dollars to create.
Here’s the write up our paper did http://www.fortmilltimes.com/2012/05/08/2003350/fort-mill-cupcake-shop-competes.html
Deb and I in the Green Room, before going on tv and sucking.

What sucks the most about losing is the fact that these cupcakes are pretty amazing. (ask our customers, we’ve sinced made them and they’re crazy popular!) In round one, it was a pain in the ass to get all 5 ingredients into a cake (kale? COME ON) but we did it, and they were actually good. We TASTE them to make sure. If it sucked, I’d toss them in the garbage instead of being ripped to shreds for my baking.
But Round 2? Ugh. We royally screwed up one flavor, but the other 2 were awesome. Where we fell short the hardest was our decorations. Honestly, when you look across the kitchen and see someone (Lily) kicking your ass with fondant while you’re still fumbling around melting chocolate because you’re running out of time? You’re done. Deb and I were like, “well, we could do the dishes and clean up…”
So yeah, we knew mid-way through round 2 we wouldn’t go any farther. And we were totally okay with it. After getting booted, we headed to Beverly Hills and ate at Real Housewives of BH, Lisa Vanderpump’s restaurant Villa Blanca. To make it more ironic, her dessert menu has green tea and raspberry tiramisu.
The cupcake that bit us hardest? Our matcha green tea and raspberry.
We celebrated our loss by making that tiramisu our bitch.
say hello to some of our prize money.
The monster.
Tara’s first go at using it could’ve been much worse! We found a re-furbished Hobart and now we only have to make each frosting once a day! Thank you, sweet baby Jesus!
Cupcake Wars. On Food Network. Pinch Me.
I was sitting at my desk when the phone rang. It was almost time to close.
I screamed. The girls heard me scream and they started to scream. And that was it. It’s a little hard to believe that they called. When we did the first CCW video and applied for Season 2, I was shocked how far I got through the interview process-even though I was baking from home still and building the shop. But when they called and asked if we would be interested in Season 3…I was definitely SHOCKED. I still find it hard to believe we did it, it’s so crazy to me. It’s even crazier that we won, after all of the insanity with Debbie blowing up the kitchen with fire, then the Sweet Tea cupcake debacle….
When I watched the episode it was like an out of body experience, like I was watching someone I “knew”, but not really “getting” that it was us.
Kind of insane.
And the shop went crazy for a few weeks. I actually cried a few times because I was so stressed out at first. I barely saw my family, I barely had time to shave my legs in the shower, the pressure was crazy.
For the most part, people were so wonderful about the show. We’d laugh at ourselves while they told us they were sure we were getting kicked off or that they just knew that we won or whatever they were thinking while watching.
Things are calm again and back to normal. Whatever normal is. I do know that I was able to make dinner a few times over the past two weeks for the first time in months and actually spend some time with my kids!
As for the winnings….EVERYONE asks what we did with the money. And those people know we did not get boob jobs. We did buy a used 30 quart Hobart (we were still trying to make all of that frosting on little kitchenaids, 2 which blew up!) and I’m taking Debbie to Disney World.
Yep, it’s true. If you saw the episode, you watched us compete against Bobby and Jose from Nantucket. Well, we are going to their wedding in Disney World this November and we’re super pumped about it! I will be sure to post all about it, but for now, here are the pictures from Cupcrazed’s 5 day California Tour.
Some mall in LA, we needed makeup. I needed Spanx.
