Alive and Kicking. Somewhat. An update and our first charity cupcake.

I’m not gonna lie, this is NOT easy.

Nothing about starting this business has been easy. I work 7 days a week, open to close almost everyday. I don’t get to see my kids as much as I want. I don’t get to go anywhere when I feel like it. I’m exhausted 99.9% of the time.

Has it been worth it? Definitely.

Are we doing better than we had hoped? Most definitely.

Do people blow us away everyday? You better believe it.

Dont think for a second I didn’t have to increase my antidepressants, don’t cry from pure exhaustion, don’t wonder “what the hell was I thinking?”, don’t doubt myself about the tiniest of details. I do all of the time. But this entire process is still nothing but rewarding, and it is true that hard work does pay off.

We can still stand by our product everyday and say we did our best. We don’t scrimp on details. We try to give back. The proof is in the pudding- we raised over $600 with our first charity cupcake this month. Our Purple Pawsibility cupcake fundraiser was a success thanks to the people who came in everyday asking for the purple cupcakes with the little dog bone on top.

Feeling warm and fuzzy yet? Here is their website http://www.humanesocietyofyorkcounty.org/ feel free to keep on donating so our homeless animals can find a new place to live.

All of the dishes, cups, and some of the shop decor was bought at our Humane Society Thrift store http://pawsibilitiesthriftshop.com/ You should see the ridiculously adorable mini creamers we found to use as milk creamers last week. You can also find adorable items on etsy: http://www.etsy.com/shop/SHERMANCAT

These are the kind of things that reward us after tons of busting ass. And yes, we also reward ourself on Wednesday night by heading over to Fish Market for gumbo and a martini after a looooooong day.

Cheers!

March 15th Charlotte Tweetup @cupcrazed

A year and a half ago was the first Charlotte tweet up. A bunch of us went, and had a totally awesome time. It was a way to meet, greet and mingle with some of the most social media savvy peeps in town. About six months later, I hosted the second Charlotte Bakeoff, which was awesome and of course a panel of local twitter judges and local twitter bakers. Many of those people were the same ones pushing me to open a bakery, and supporting my “hobby” while I was trying to figure out what I wanted to do when I grew up.

Fast forward a year. Exactly a year after the bakeoff, my bakery- @cupcrazed is hosting the March Charlotte Tweetup. We are totally pumped, and getting ready to thank all of our amazing local supporters. Want to come too? Check updates later this week through their webpage http://cltweetup.com/ or follow them on twitter @CLTweetup for details. Tickets will be limited, so hurry your ass up and sign up!
