(
Valium would’ve been nice as well.)
What the hell was Shaye doing up at 5am this morning??? The weather was simply craptastic when I got out of bed, so I wasn’t sure if the field trip would be cancelled or not. The skies dried up by 9am and first I headed to Fivebucks for a jolt. Shaye did nothing but whine, cry, tantrum and fit all morning until it was time to go. Some days I miss taking medication.
The farm is like an hour away so thank GOD she slept during the ride or I was going to drop them both off at the farm and speed away. I kid.
The field trip is set up the same each year and it’s very cute. First, they go into what look like hay huts, tee pees and forts. From there they head into the barn, where they get to draw beautiful pumpkin face portraits
and jump on a humongous trampoline covered in hay.
After lots of threats of angry animals (who probably HATE kids by now) biting off fingers, we check out the horse (who wanted to lick Shaye), the cow (that looked like a polar bear), some goats, and chickens. The girl was giving a lecture on chickens and Brinn promptly piped up to correct her. “That’s a ROOSTER, not a chicken!” And the girl did happen to be pointing at a rooster. Next we did the corn maze. Brinn loved this but Shaye, not so much.
For some reason the corncobs on the ground freaked her out, and twice during a tantrum she threw herself into the mud. As seen here just before a crash.
Then she wanted to eat it…
As you can see, I have tons of great shots of the happy, smiling children running away from spending time with me …

We did have a good time if you cancel out the crying and the word NO.
