My son just had his birthday, and got a PERMIT. To drive a CAR. A REAL car, not a go cart.
Yes, you are able to drive a car at 15, not that most kids should be driving. Or some 34yr old minivan moms. And, apparently Bryce is one of those kids, because Bob said he was clipping curbs in a giant, empty parking lot nearby.
Anyway. He’s been dating his girlfriend since November, and in teenagerdom that is like, an eternity+forever=a miracle. I told him we wanted to go out for a nice meal, because we’d have family in town.
I asked him to bring his girlfriend along, to which he replied, “um no, because you will make it awkward.”
What the hell did you just say to me?
He tried to cover it up with 2 lame excuses. 1. she’s too shy 2. she won’t want to eat what we’re going out for. Luckily his girlfriend popped over, and even though Bob said I was an ass for outing him, I had no other choice. I asked her myself, with a dig or two thrown in for good measure.
“Hey, Bryce said you are too shy to go to dinner with us, and you hate food.”
She came.
He chose PF Changs. We thought it would be fun to bring his cake and gifts into the restaurant, but he turned 7 shades of red and told us we were RUDE for giving him those things in front of everyone. Because everyone at PF Changs really gave a shit.
We came home with the cake and presents, and I think he made out like a champ. Lots of vinyls and clothes. What else could a teenager want? Don’t answer that.
So here are some pictures.
Store bought cake ala Aunt Debbie. No cracks about my baking and why the hell I didn’t make a cake myself. I was lazy, that’s why.
