Inspector Gadget!

Brinn loves the magnifying glass. Today she was on the hunt for something exciting.
She took the letters off the magnet board inside her playhouse, “look mom, letters!”

What else? Thinking hard.

what do I see…in the tree….

and some little sprouts, we’re thinking sunflowers because Maeve’s homemade, soda bottle bird feeder was filled with them.

Monday & Tuesday Low Carb Dinners

Last night wasn’t picture worthy- green beans and ham.
Tonight I had big plans, but my insides feel like they’re being chewed on by rabid dogs, so all I can say is CHICKEN. And please keep in mind I’m not here to impress people who read my blog. When it’s all said and done at dinnertime, my son probably went to Taco Hell with his friends before coming home from school, my 9 yr old fed half of her dinner to the dog, and my 2 yr old ate a poptart.

And my dinner tonight? Hersheys.

And in just 9 short months we’ll have….

NOT a baby.

But braces on my daughter! We went in for her yearly orthodontist check-up yesterday.

All of the way there she’s nervous, fretting over: Will it hurt when they look? What will they do? OMG I didn’t brush my teeth!

All of the way there I’m sweating over the COST, WHEN, HOW MUCH, HOW LONG will I pay the doctor’s mortgage (again)?

We’re taken to the back, and Brinn won’t get out of the patient chair. She absolutely demanded to have a little look-see first. Maeve knocked her out of the seat (screaming ensued) and the doctor takes a peek. Maeve only has one baby tooth left that needs to fall out, and he tells me, “I’ve never seen a patient this advanced, she’ll be ready for her braces in about 9 months.”

“Advanced”… I chuckled and said, “I think you told me that when I brought Bryce in 4 years ago”. No chuckle back. Of course I stupidly start shooting off my mouth so I don’t look like an idiot, which only made me look like a bigger freak in the long run. “My children all got teeth early as babies, and lose them all earlier than most”. With a sure, okay look on his face, he nodded politely. But I felt compelled to prove I wasn’t full of bull, I have no reasonable explanation why, but I felt like I should prove it. Apparently he has a baby born at the end of May, 3 weeks younger than Shaye. Ahh, my in. “How many teeth does your little one have now?” I asked. “None, but he’s working on the first”. “Shaye has seven!” I blurted a little too loud. Now I’ve turned my child into a freak show, the 3 techs came bolting over asking me to get her to open her mouth so they can glance at the 8th wonder of the world. Either way, the Doctor shook his head, “wow, you weren’t kidding”.
I smiled smugly. But the smug one in the long run is the doctor. I just informed him that I’ll be contributing to his financial empire for at least the next decade thanks to my kids and their advanced but crooked teeth.

I can’t believe it’s time…

I have officially started making plans for Shaye’s 1st birthday party. This year FLEW!
When Brinn turned one, I went hog wild for pink and cupcakes. Her invites were big cupcakes, pinata, plates, balloons, all of it. But for Shaye I’ve decided to go with lavender and presents.

How did I decide on the party themes you wonder? It was all about the dress!
B.Swanky Children’s Boutique.
this is the one we chose for Shaye
(and the shoes, GOTTA love the shoes!)
Here was Brinn, 6/06.Photobucket
Brinn’s birthday cake was a 2 tier pink cake. I didn’t want a giant cupcake “cake”, so we went with this.Photobucket
For Shaye we will have one made to look like a lavender present:
For Brinn’s party we had matching pink cupcakes made with a big 1 on them, and put them in Chinese takeout boxes as party favors. I’ll do the same this time, at $1 for the box and $1 for the cupcake it’s cost effective! Now I just need to head up to our local stationery shop and order the invites. My baby is turning one, I just can’t believe how fast it goes. (you’d think I’d know by now since she’s #4, but you never get use to it).
